I started watching this show a couple of weeks back that has sort of changed my outlook on, not just life, but how I write. It was based off of a book, one that won the Pulitzer Prize, written by David McCullough. Once I finished the show, it was my goal to acquire and consume the book it was based off of.
That book is "John Adams". Yes, that is the second president of the United States. The book is a biography of his life and it has broadened my horizon. I have a new found respect for this country. I have realized that John Adams was a very intelligent man. He's my one, true role model.
I highly suggest this book. Granted, it is extremely long and time consuming. But, it's well worth it. And, if you don't have time for the book, watch the show. "John Adams" was produced by HBO, starring Paul Giamatti and laura linney. It's truly one of the best bits of literature I've ever come across and a complete joy to read.

Wow, what's up with your love of the men of our country? Hamilton and Adams? They hated each other though! Probably because you have your attentions divided between them Thanks, I may borrow this (assuming you have it) or the Hamilton one, cause I need to read books about the US and stuff for APUSH. Yeah.

You know, that might be it. I can't decide who I love more. Adams was stuborn and full of pride. He would speak out of turn, but it was always with passion. He said what he meant whenever he pleased and for as long as he wanted. He once gave a five hour lecture and, at the end, recived a grand response. But, Hamiliton was brilliant with planning, a bit of a war hero, though not publicly. He created a way for the country to get out of debt, not to mention co-wrote the Federalist Papers. He just sort of did what HE thought was right, luckily it was right for the country as well.
Yes, I do own it. I'm almost half way done, with more to go. I have that Hamilton book that you could read, but I suggest John Adams first. It explains things I bit better...but, the Hamilton book goes into the battle fields more (Hamilton was a general, I believe). Nicole is supposed to borrow John Adams once I'm done with it. They have it at the library if you'd like to try reading it.
Or, just watch the show! It's very close to the book and when you do read the book, things will make more sense. You'll have a picture of what's going on.
