I think it would be really nice to do something with seasonal writing activities. I know there are many children related events going on around this time of year (seeing as how the holidays are dedicated to children and their enthusiasm for presents and whatnot) and it would be really cool to be able to meet with these events and present stories to the little chillens.
Mrs. Dollars, of the dance department, does and 'Breakfast with Santa' program every year where the Nu Delta Alpha (the honors society for dancers) come together and hold a breakfast for the children at Walnut Grove. I'm a little hazy on the details, but I might be able to talk Mrs. Dollars into letting a few students come and read a holiday story to the children.
Of course, these would be creative stories or poems written by the students of this club. And it would have to be speedy. I'm getting on talking to Mrs. Dollars, Mrs. Lowrance, and Hutch right away so we can talk about it at the next meeting (Wed. Nov. 19th).
I do hope that this works out. I think it would be a wonderful activity. And, if all else fails and we end up taking too long to plan this, my mom works at Walnut Grove. They, as you know, are in school longer (in the day) then we are. We can always work out to meet over there at the end of their day and read stories to them. It doesn't have to be Holiday related. It can be for any day.
Again, I'll get right on working on this so we can all converse at the meeting.

I know this didn't end up happening last semester, but if there's an interest in this type of writing, I think it could be a great thing to do. Let me know if you all are still interested and we can get the ball rolling.

I would love to kick this ball down the hill of progression. : D
I can start talking to my mom about dates and see when we can give ourselves a deadline. Her kids are fourth graders so the stories wouldn't be kindergarten level. But, she used to be a kindergarden teacher and is still familiar with those teachers. We can arrange readins with different grade levels. There's also the children that are here in the morning as well.
